I've updated from 4.7 to 4.8 in Debian testing and keyboard layout font got messed up. It was pretty fine in 4.7. This keyboard layout switcher can be turned on/off from keyboard options in system settings. However, in tray options there is another option for keyboard layout switcher which adds another one (on right). Letters are better there but the color is white which on Classic theme looks unreadable. I'm not sure whether the first one is intended to be replaced with the second one, but I think something should be done about it. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Enable keyboard layout indicator in keyboard settings in system settings. 2. Enable keyboard layout indicator in tray settings. Actual Results: Letters look weird. Expected Results: They should be normal.
Could you please test with the latest KDE version available in your distribution and provide a screenshot of the problem?
Latest KDE in Debian testing is 4.8.4 (Qt: 4.8.2). Still the same: http://img580.imageshack.us/img580/5232/74977826.png (icons for klipper and device notifier are changed manually in theme otherwise they are pretty bad to see)
Erm, what exactly is looking weird? You mean the transparent icon? That is on purpose in the oxygen theme, not a font issue, as it is an icon. But indeed, white icons on light grey background is not exactly a good idea. Reassigning to Oxygen and setting the usability flag. FWIW: it would be good if you could actually attach the image to the bug report, so it is permanent, external hosting services are not a good idea.

That one on the left with black letters "us" (old indicator). They are smaller than they have been. Just compare to the other indicator's size on the right (which has a problem of being white on light background).
Dear Bug Submitter, This bug has been stagnant for a long time. Could you help us out and re-test if the bug is valid in the latest version? I am setting the status to NEEDSINFO pending your response, please change the Status back to REPORTED when you respond. Thank you for helping us make KDE software even better for everyone!

I don't think this is relevant anymore. Should be closed.
