Description rtdvrs 2012-06-22 19:49:43 UTC
Version: 0.14.90

Using the Normal profile scrolling through all pages of a long document (hundreds of pages) results in extremely high memory usage (3GB).

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. open large pdf document with lots of pages and images
2. scroll through the pages one by one for them to render
3. observe memory usage going up

Caching is one thing, but wasting memory is another, especially when there are profiles set.

Next version should include a fix for this, please test it again once 0.14.95 is out and if it still fails please reopen this bug

Thanks for caring about Okular

Now I' m at 0.18 with KDE 4.12. This is definitely not ever fixed for me. Always reproduceable with long pdf files lot of pictures, usually take up more than 500 MB of my 8GB ram of one file. I feel there need to be an option between current low and normal memory usage profile, because most things are fine with low mode, except the white->content flash on page turn .

And I don' t understand why the instruction for normal profile includes this :"(For systems with 256MB of memory, typically)" . Is it some old string that need to be modified?
