Description Robby Engelmann 2012-06-22 05:42:43 UTC
Folderview widget does not show any files I linked to an activity. It appeared first 1-2days before (git packages). Files are still linked as activities:/current/ in dolphin shows them.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1.link a file to an activity
2.add folderview widget to the desktop of this activity
3.setup folderview to show files of current activity
Actual Results:
no files shown

Expected Results:
linked files should be shown
Comment 1 Marco Martin 2012-06-22 08:15:55 UTC
doesn't seem to be reproducible here, it works fine.
 can somebody else confirm?
Comment 2 Robby Engelmann 2012-06-22 09:31:00 UTC
for me it is the same as a fresh generate new user.

Using packages from here: https://launchpad.net/~hrvojes/+archive/kde-backports
folderview version: 4:4.8.91git-r~1793-201206211702~precise1

Do you have nepomuk properly installed
Comment 4 Robby Engelmann 2012-07-10 16:37:52 UTC
I had some post beta2 packages from a ppa (before 4.9 has been branched) installed. After purging this ppa and reverting to kubuntu/beta versions the linked files are back again.
Only this issue remained: https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=301971
Comment 5 Robby Engelmann 2012-08-13 08:16:25 UTC
After upgrading from Kubuntu's 4.9beta2 packages to final 4.9, the issue firstly described reappeared for me. Folderview does not show any files linked to the current activity, whereas in dolphin they are readily shown.
Comment 6 Robby Engelmann 2012-08-13 08:54:55 UTC
I also tried to put the plain url in the folderview setting to show e.g. "activities://my_activity_code". First it worked and showed the linked files, but after a system restart the folderview widget is again empty. My guess is that this bug is somehow related to: https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=226248.

I did a test and linked 3 files and 1 folder to my current activity BUT in the folderview only 2 of the files show, in the kio activities:/current/ all the linked files and folder show

disabling and restart Nepomuk caused all the linked files to show

I should have added I'm running openSUSE x64 12.2rc2 and KDE 4.9
Comment 9 Cyril Brosch 2012-09-20 07:43:31 UTC
I can confirm for KDE SC 4.9.1 (Chakra packages, 64bit).
It worked when I set up the folderview plasmoid, but after reboot it is empty. The files show up in Dolphin, and Nepomuk is running without any problems.
Restarting Nepomuk doesn't help, however.
Comment 10 Robby Engelmann 2012-10-08 13:46:41 UTC
still valid for 4.9.2 in kubuntu 12.10
Comment 11 Cyril Brosch 2012-10-08 19:17:09 UTC
Err, workaround: Press F5 in the plasmoid. Would be nice, if it would work automatically, though.
Comment 12 Robby Engelmann 2012-10-08 19:39:06 UTC
Thanks,
F5 works, but with multiple activities I always get the wrong files shown after switching.
I think I will wait to use that feature until this bug is fixed
Comment 13 Marcus 2012-11-29 02:51:46 UTC
I can confirm the problem and F5 works here too.
Before I had tried in dolphin linking or unlinking an element to the active activy as well made all associated elements (of only that activity) show up again.

I'm closing this as a duplicate of bug 301971 mainly because the underlying issue is the same in both. We appreciate all of your comments since they have been really helpful in debugging this situation. If interested, please add yourself to the CC of the other bug where we will be discussing the fix.
