Application: VLC 1.1.3 (Debian package)
Distro: default Debian squeeze x64 (Linux)

Opening a mp3 while VLC was already playing another mp3, causes VLC to dump core. The mp3 files can be emailed upon request.

Reproducible: Sometimes

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Open an mp3 file when VLC is already open.
2.

Actual Results:  
VLC dumps core sometimes.

Expected Results:  
Play MP3 file.

Can you reproduce the bug with any other TagLib-using programs?  (JuK, Amarok, et al)  There were a number of issues in the way that VLC both packaged and used TagLib, so we naturally tend to be skeptical of reports originating from there.

I do not use any other TagLib-using programs.

The backtrace shows TagLib throwing an "Address 0x20 out of bounds" error in TagLib. Can this be a packaging or usage mistake and not a buffer overflow ?
