Without more infos I can't fix it. Do you have infos in console .? install debug package etc.

Simmillar behaviour here. KDE 4.8.4, archlinux, amd64. Whenever I want to compose a new message or reply to one, eather by short cut or by button, kmail dies silently. I am using the "Window Menu Bar" plasmoid for global menus, but kmail crashes the same way without this plasmoid. I append the output to the console kmail is started from and the output of .xsession. so it's crash with void DBusMenuExporterPrivate::addAction(...) It's not kmail it's dbusmenu I didn't use it. Better to report to dbusmenu

I have excalty the same problem. I tried both the libdbusmenu-qt2-0.9.0-2.1.2 (which is the original package) and libdbusmenu-qt2-0.9.2-18.1 (which comes with KDE 4.8.4). The result is the same - KMail crashes opening the mail editor without any feedback.
@Laurent Montel: How do you avoid to use dbusmenu? I now have disabled the global menu, but for on my arch machine, kdelibs depend on libdbusmenu-qt.
I don't compile it :) and I rebuild full kde here :)
