Description Matthias Welwarsky 2012-05-26 08:19:04 UTC
Pressing F5 inside an album view reloads the album and selects the topmost photo of the album. While this looks correct at first glance it is totally annoying. Normally, there is no reason to reload an album at all. I do it only when I suspect that new image that should be there are not showing up. Then most of the time I have scrolled to the last image in the album. Pressing F5 jumps back to the top, which is annoying.

It is especially annoying when you are previewing an image and press F5. I do this when I suspect that the preview is outdated because I edited it outside of digikam (e.g. in GIMP). F5 should then just reload the image preview, instead it jumps to the first image in the folder.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. In Album View, scroll down to last image, press F3 to preview
2. Press F5 to reload

Actual Results:
Digikam jumps to first image in folder and previews it.

Expected Results:
Digikam should reload the preview

F5 refresh current album in case of dysfunction of auto re-scan in background from KDELibs. Also, if you do not re-scan items at start-up (option in config panel through Misc section), you need manually to force digiKam to scan new items.

For me this entry is not valid.

Gilles, if you read the report it is not about suppressing the function of F5.
It is about the behavior of F5 which is annoying because it sets the position of active image to the first in the album, especially while in preview this is annoying.

Question is if you ever really needed a refresh or if you only had the feeling you needed it. At least on Linux with a not ancient kernel, change detection should work absolutely reliable.

Apart from that, I understand your original bug but no high priority for me.
