Description K. A. Sayeed 2012-05-18 15:06:50 UTC
1. When a newly created contact is saved, the following endlessly repeating error message is displayed in the bottom right hand corner of the screen:

1.1.  "CONTACTS -> ASSORTED -> 02

->->2: Request for saving the address bookfailed. Probably locked by another application.".

2. Please note that "CONTACTS -> ASSORTED -> 02" is the name of one of the three address books that was created by the user in KDE Kontact.

3. No request was made to the application by the user to save the aforementioned address book nor was any new contact created in the said address book. The new contact was created in an entirely different address book in KDE Contact .

4. The aforementioned error message continues to repeat until the system is restarted.

5. Also, please note that the newly created contact was NOT shown in the list of contacts contained in the address book in which it was created.

6. This problem happens some times and not some other times. Nevertheless, it does happen quite frequently.

Reproducible: Sometimes

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Create a new contact in an address book.
2. Save the new contact.
Actual Results:
1. The error message mentioned above is repeatedly displayed by the system.
2. The newly created contact is nowhere to be found.

Expected Results:
1. There should be no error message.
2. The newly created contact must be found in the address book in which it was created.

This bug has only been reported for versions before 4.14, which have been unsupported for at least two years now. Can anyone tell if this bug still present?

If noone confirms this bug for a Framework-based version of kaddressbook (version 5.0 or later, as part of KDE Applications 15.08 or later), it gets closed in about three months.

Just as announced in my last comment, I close this bug. If you encounter it again in a recent version (at least 5.0 aka 15.08), please open a new one unless it already exists. Thank you for all your input.
