I'm using KDE 4.8.3 release 501, and dolphin 2.0. When you select Creation date tag in the information panel it show some, I would say random numbers. Date of modification is shown correctly. Reproducible: Always
Could you please let us know for which kind of files you have enabled the "Created"-property? E.g. usually it is available as EXIF information in JPEG images and depends on the camera what date is written there. Ideally please attach a file to this bug-report where a wrong creation-date is shown. Thanks.
I have the same problem, with KDE 4.9.5, for pictures (jpeg). For every picture, the "Created" field contains the same sequence "4294967295". For your info you can find a problematic picture at the following link (but not sure it will help you because I have the problem with every picture, whatever the make/model of the camera): http://nicofo.tuxfamily.org/tmp/example.jpg
Created attachment 77817 [details] printscreen of the bug Problem still present with KDE 4.10.1 For info, 4294967295 is 2^32 - 1 (see printscreen attached of the Properties > Information panel)
Nicofo, that's not Dolphin. What you see is bug 316712.
(In reply to comment #4) > Nicofo, that's not Dolphin. What you see is bug 316712. I disagree: the bug you mention is about a more user friendly time information (the information given is correct, but not in number of seconds instead of the format xx:xx:xx). The bug here is different: the "Created time" is always incorrect and has a fixed value of 4294967295
@Nicofo, the properties dialog now does no longer show this information, but the Information Panel should display the time correctly. Closing this bug now, if it still fails for some reason, please reopen.
OK thanks for the update
The properties dialog will (again) show metadata in the coming KDE Applications 18.04.0 release, see bug 384194.
