Once the session is opened, the desktop/workspace (ie its wallpaper and its icons) is found shifted by 1.8 cm to the right of the screen. A black strip of 1.8 cm is found in the left side of the screen. 3 virtual desktops were set up in this Kubuntu session and the issue is the same in all 3. This issue occurred when icons (shortcuts to applications) were added in the right part of one of the 3 virtual desktops. Restarting the computer does not solve the issue. Changing the resolution of the screen does not solve the issue. Coming back to the native video driver (instead of the nVIDIA driver) does not solve the issue. Only the desktop is involved in this issue. Once an application is launched (even from a shortcut on the desktop), its window takes the full screen (without any shift to the right and it covers the left black strip which is not seen anymore). Reproducible: Didn't try OS: Linux Kubuntu Precise Pangolin 12.04 64 bits; KDE 4.8.2 Computer: Clevo W870CU; Intel Core i7; screen 17.3'' 1920x1080; video nVIDIA GTX 280M.
Hello! This bug report was filed for KDE Plasma 4, which reached end-of-support status in August 2015. KDE Plasma 5's desktop shell has been almost completely rewritten for better performance and usability, so it is likely that this bug is already resolved in Plasma 5. Accordingly, we hope you understand why we must close this bug report. If the issue described here is still present in KDE Plasma 5.12 or later, please feel free to open a new ticket in the "plasmashell" product after reading https://community.kde.org/Get_Involved/Bug_Reporting If you would like to get involved in KDE's bug triaging effort so that future mass bug closes like this are less likely, please read https://community.kde.org/Get_Involved#Bug_Triaging Thanks for your understanding! Nate Graham
