Description Franklin Weng 2012-05-03 15:31:44 UTC
I set up an MSN/XMPP account. I set up the nickname in identity setting and selected the avatar. Then I used KMess to login another MSN account, which had the MSN account I set in telepathy in its contact list. At KMess, I could see the avatar of the account, but the "nickname" was shown in "status message", instead of his name. Then, when the two accounts were talking, I could not see correct avatar and name in the kmess chat window. And vice versa: in kde-telepathy chat window I could not see the correct avatar and name either.

Please stick to one bug per report otherwise they're impossible for us to manage.

If you're implying the contact list crash report, this one is different (and ok).
Comment 3 David Edmundson 2012-05-03 16:52:35 UTC
I meant "nickname" appearing in the status message (to KMess users) and the avatar not updating.

Okay, I tested Telepathy 0.4.0. The status now is that, when I set up an MSN/XMPP account,

Sorry, please ignore the above comment.

I tested Telepathy 0.4.0 with Windows Live Messenger account. I could log in, and I could see this account on kmess which logged in with another account. However the avatar could not show.

Windows Live will be closed soon anyway: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-20222998
so it's not really worth our time investigating this.

Could you test with 0.5, and our MSN XMPP solution.
