When configured to announce via speech that a connection has failed and the speech infrastructure is not installed, an annoying bunch of notifier dialogs gets created. The dialog is titled "Could not find service 'kttsd'. Knotifier" body text "Starting Jovie Text-to-Speech Service Failed" Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Default install (no 'Assitance' module) 2. Kill a network connection (ie: kill power to local ethernet switch) Actual Results: Dialog box appears when speech service could not be started. Expected Results: Better action might be to fall back to another notification style (perhaps a pop-up). Additionally, settings panel should disable speech feedback selection if infrastructure not installed (at least one of the other settings panels does that - can't remember which - but there seems to be a way of testing for it's availability) I'm not sure if the speech feedback is the default? I can't remember selecting it in: {Network Management Settings | Other | Configure Notifications -> Network Connection Failed} The default install of Kubuntu that I used did _not_ install the Assistance packages (ie: include kttsd) I had noticed this dialog box occasionally before (every now and again) but could not pin it to a particular application trying to launch speech feedback. Then the power supply for my ethernet switch failed and it began rebooting every five minutes -> 116 dialog boxes in eleven hours (of course, while I was sleeping near the computer)... at this point I decided to install kttsd and listen to the result which pinned the cause down to the network management. Simple workaround is to install kttsd or Assistance packages. Ubuntu 12.04 (ish) NM version 0.9.0.1 (nm09 20120407)
Plasma NM just uses the notification system, we do not deal with which backend is used to notify the user.
Looked into this and the problem is that kdeinit/klauncher.cpp should keep track of dialogs it shows when services can't be found and only display one for each error.

(In reply to Andrew Crouthamel from comment #4) > This is a reminder that this bug has been stagnant for a long time. Could > you help us out and re-test if the bug is valid in the latest version? can't reproduce it as of Kubuntu 18.10 - Jovie is gone and I'm not even sure which services replaced it.
