Description Ralph 2012-04-29 19:53:32 UTC
I wanted to move some mail from my IMAP account into a "Kmail folders" sub-folder that I had just created. "Kmail folders" contains *all* my local email that I've had archived for ages.

After I had right clicked on "Kmail folders" and clicked "add folder" then typed in the filename there was a long pause and after the pause all my "Kmail folders" that had been imported from Kmail 1 were deleted!!! The only folders that remained in "Kmail folders" were those that I had created since migrating my old email from kmail 1 to kmail 2.

Reproducible: Didn't try

Steps to Reproduce:
I can't reproduce this easily without reimporting kmail 1 folders using the official kmail2 migration wizard. I don't want to break my email any more - it is important for me to get the old emails back!
Actual Results:
A new folder was created as expected in "Kmail folders" however all the ones that had been imported from kmail 1 using the kmail 2 migration tool had been deleted.

Expected Results:
A new folder should have been created and none of the other folders should have been deleted.

Please can you help me recover my email to the state it was in a few hours ago.

Is there a recovery tool?

Thanks.

Also, I can no longer delete any email in my IMAP folder. I press delete and the mail just stays in the IMAP folder.

I would be happy to just get my system back to where it was before all the folders were deleted.

Also, in case it matters the new folder I created was 43 characters long with spaces.

This bug has only been reported for versions before 4.14, which have been unsupported for at least two years now. Can anyone tell if this bug still present?

If noone confirms this bug for a Framework-based version of kmail2 (version 5.0 or later, as part of KDE Applications 15.12 or later), it gets closed in about three months.

Just as announced in my last comment, I close this bug. If you encounter it again in a recent version (at least 5.0 aka 15.08), please open a new one unless it already exists. Thank you for all your input.
