It would be nice to have a small (configurable) delay when mousing over items in the task manager before a preview is displayed.

Please consider using the Icon Only Task replacement for the Tasks applet which is part of Plasma Addons. This provides a config option for how fast the thumbnail should be shown. 

Given that the functionality is present in a more configurable applet I consider this as a worksforme.
