In that C source : http://www.mirari.fr/RmtF , when I type "pdtlib" (without the quotes), the code-completion box disappears. It pops when I have typed "pdt", "pdtl", "pdtli", pdtlib_", but disappears if I just write "pdtlib". I get this behaviour even if I open this file in an empty session. Reproducible: Sometimes Steps to Reproduce: 1. Open the file http://www.mirari.fr/RmtF (download it as a .c file) in an empty Kate session 2. Anywhere in the file, type "pdtlib" (without the quotes) Actual Results: Completion box disappears Expected Results: Completion box still appears until the end of the word Kate 3.8.2, using Kubuntu 12.04 and KDE 4.8.2
Adjustment : I can _always_ reproduce the bug with the given source file. But I can't get a test case with a smaller file...
I can reproduce this, but it appears to be by design: "pdtlib" is one of the words offered by the completion, so it figures the word is already complete and suspends the completion until another character is entered.
I'm reopening this at the submitter's request (and also setting it to confirmed because I can reproduce it). I clarified the subject to describe what the actual issue is here. I personally think the current behavior makes sense, but I'll leave the final decision to the Kate maintainers.
Didn't tested your file. Nowdays you can force the completion popup to appear by Ctrl-Space, not sure if that feature is newer than this report. Good enough to close this?
Dear user, this wish list item is now closed, as it wasn't touched in the last two years and no contributor stepped up to implement it. The Kate/KTextEditor team is small and we can just try to keep up with fixing bugs. Therefore wishes that show no activity for a years or more will be closed from now on to keep at least a bit overview about 'current' wishs of the users. If you want your feature to be implemented, please step up to provide some patch for it. If you think it is really needed, you can reopen your request, but keep in mind, if no new good arguments are made and no people get attracted to help out to implement it, it will expire in a year again. We have a nice website https://kate-editor.org that provides all the information needed to contribute, please make use of it. e.g. see the information at https://kate-editor.org/join-us/ for details Greetings Christoph Cullmann
