Description Christophe Marin 2012-04-19 08:49:03 UTC
Using master.

The setup:
9 IMAP accounts, 1 pop3 one

When starting KMail the accounts order chosen in settings/accounts is not respected. The accounts are sorted in alphabetical order.

Restarting KMail fixes it.

Still valid in 4.9 ?

messagelist vs. accounts order kcm

The testcase is no longer valid but the issue is.

Note: The initial report is still slightly valid if you rmb / "Manually by Drag and Drop" (I would expect the option to *only* affect the folders sorting, not the accounts)
Comment 4 Laurent Montel 2012-07-20 08:15:45 UTC
When I manually dnd we don't use account sorting settings.
Do you think that in manually dnd we use too the account sorting settings ?

I understand this is about two issues, one account order and second folder order in an account. The second one is OK except the context menu one gets on the header of the Folder List shows an option Sort Items of which it is unclear that this only applies to Folders in an account and not to the Accounts. Suggestion: "Sort Items in Accounts". Sorting Accounts is available in Settings->Kmail Settings->Accounts->Adjust order Accounts. However as stated above this ordering is not obeyed in the sub window Folder List, It remains sorted alphabetically.

I haven't noticed this bug in a while.

can anyone else confirm this is fixed (or not fixed)?
Comment 8 Christophe Marin 2013-06-22 15:27:29 UTC
the bug is still valid (as per comment#3), only the title needs to be changed
Comment 9 Freek de Kruijf 2013-06-22 16:09:42 UTC
In Kontact 4.10.3 I can reorder the accounts in Settings->Kmail Settings->Accounts->Adjust order Accounts, which have immediate effect pressing Apply.
When changing in the context menu of the header of the Folder List to "Manually by Drag and Drop", this order is not obeyed and the account are reordered. I could not change that order by drag-and-drop.

I just encounter this issue. It happens after mariadb upgrade that forces me to delete ~/.local/share/akonadi so that kmail will recreate the folder and its contents again. I only have 3 accounts in KMail so it's easily spotted. I add a screenshot to the attachment list.

Inconsistent account order
Comment 12 Laurent Montel 2014-07-24 16:14:35 UTC
I improve it in 4.14.
Comment 13 Denis Kurz 2016-09-24 18:21:33 UTC
This bug has only been reported for versions before 4.14, which have been unsupported for at least two years now. Can anyone tell if this bug still present?

If noone confirms this bug for a Framework-based version of kmail2 (version 5.0 or later, as part of KDE Applications 15.12 or later), it gets closed in about three months.
Comment 14 Freek de Kruijf 2016-09-25 16:02:34 UTC
Checked it for kmail5 16.08.1 and it works as it should.
