The sliding popup for the device notifier is too narrow on my system (I think this was introduced with an upgrade to 4.8, but I'm not sure about this; all I'm sure of is that this is a regression since I already saw this working). When I want to resize it, the resize cursors show only when hovering the upper left and right corners. The dialog can only be stretched/shrunk proportionally, while I would only need, and in fact: prefer, to only change its width.
While this is a minor annoyance, what weighs more is that the size I set by dragging is not remembered when I log out/log in.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. open device notifier, change size by dragging upper left corner
2. log out
3. log in
Actual Results:
Device notifier popup is at its original size again

Expected Results:
The size of the popup should be remembered

I fixed the aspect-ratio constraint on 4.8.3; however, restoring size upon restart is something which should be fixed for all popup applets
Reassigning to the right component

Thank you for your effort!

This also happens with the shelf widget (KDE SC 4.8.3 on Kubuntu here). Every time after a login I have to re-adjust the width of my shelves in the panel, they always start with a too narrow width :(.

It seems to affect nearly all popup widgets which are resizable. It got a lot better with KDE SC 4.10 but still the popup shrinks itself a little constantly after every login. In my case thats the device notifier, the shelf and an external AppMenu QML. After every login they are about 1 mm less high, so every 5 logins I have to re-drag them to desired size to see everything I want to see.

Hello!

This bug report was filed for KDE Plasma 4, which reached end-of-support status in August 2015. KDE Plasma 5's desktop shell has been almost completely rewritten for better performance and usability, so it is likely that this bug is already resolved in Plasma 5.

Accordingly, we hope you understand why we must close this bug report. If the issue described here is still present in KDE Plasma 5.12 or later, please feel free to open a new ticket in the "plasmashell" product after reading https://community.kde.org/Get_Involved/Bug_Reporting

If you would like to get involved in KDE's bug triaging effort so that future mass bug closes like this are less likely, please read https://community.kde.org/Get_Involved#Bug_Triaging

Thanks for your understanding!
