Description manolis 2012-04-13 09:41:50 UTC
User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:11.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/11.0
Build Identifier:

On the component chooser for text editors, I have an empty drop down list of editors.
Meanwhile, kwrite and kate are installed in the system, and both when runned give the following:
"A KDE text-editor component could not be found.
Please check your KDE installation."
Search a bit , through the internet , the proposed "dbus-launcher kwrite" fix, didn't work.
First appeared after last kde upgrade.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. System Settings ->Default Applications->Emb.Text editor
2.
3.
Actual Results:
I got an empty list of choices. And kwrite, kate give the message mentioned above.

Expected Results:
Have kwrite, kate on the list of choices for the editor part. And kwrite, kate launch correctly.

Can you test on a freshly created user account?
Comment 3 manolis 2012-04-13 20:56:57 UTC
made a new clean user account. test1 in a newly created home folder.
The same thing happens.

Reinstalling some components of kde, solved the issue.
So it is not your bug anyway.
Thanks for your time.
