With Dolphin 2.1 you can now add arbitrary columns to your column view. The stars rating is displayed as stars.
It should be possible to directly rate files from the view.

Reproducible: Sometimes

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Switch to Column view
2. Add rating column
3. Click on stars field next to a file
Actual Results:
Nothing happens

Expected Results:
The file gets rated accordingly

(Are folders rateable? I think they also get stars in the column?)

Ha, I knew that this feature request will get submitted, but I did not expect it that fast ;-) I most probably cannot implement this for the 4.9 release, but I agree that a direct manipulation might make sense. One concern: If people want to open a file, they could accidantly change the rating. I guess in the details-view (= what you declared as "column view") this might work well, but I'm not so sure for the icons- and compact-view.

Folders are rateable.
