Normally when clicking the right mouse button (RMB) inside Konqueror or Rekonq a menu appears. This menu is used frequently when cutting/pasting text or opening a link in a new tab. But with KDE-4.8.2 and also 4.8.1 and maybe even with 4.8.0, clicking the RMB does nothing. This only happens with applications that are using the mouse gestures settings in Systemsettings > Shortcuts and Gestures. Mouse gestures work normally, only the menu doesn't open when clicking the RMB. Turning off Gestures in Systemsettings > Shortcuts and Gestures, or setting the Mouse button to something else than 3 (3=RMB) will make the clicking of RMB open the menu as expected. There is a temporary workaround, but not ideal: To open the RMB-menu, do the following: - Press (don't release) the LMB; - Press and release the RMB; - Release the LMB. Or you can disable Gestures in Systemsettings > Shortcuts and Gestures, or use a different mouse button for gestures.
I'm using KDE-4.8.3 now, and the problem still exists. I also forgot to mention: Both mouse gestures and opening the right mouse button menu work when the window is inactive. But when the window is active, only mouse gestures work.
I've been using KDE-4.9rc2 (4.8.97) for a week and the problem is still there.
Problem still exists on kde-4.10.0
Still happens in kde-4.10.2
Still happens in kde-4.11.1 Turning on mouse gestures for mouse button #3 (Right Mouse Button) for an application (for example Konqueror) will hijack this button for this application. This application's context menu cannot be opened by pressing this button. This happens since kde-4.8.
It's not KDE's problem, so the issue is resolved (actually KDE has no issues with this). The reason was that the X-server did not start up with the XTEST extension.
