It is like generating all icons or previews is done first and then icons are sorted according to the current settings.
This happens mostly when opening large folders that contain movies.

So there is a delay of few second from when i open folder, icons/preview are rendered, then sorting change happens.

Using Kubuntu 11.10 KDE 4.8.1

PS. I guessed that this is related to the Dolphins view-engine component when submitting this report. Please correct me if I am wrong.

Thanks for the report. This most probably is a duplicate of bug 292733. I guess you have used "Type" for sorting?
