- What I was doing when the application crashed:0
  I simply start the VLC player and  Kmix crashes. Also, when the volume in Kmix set to zero, it crashes both on the VLC and MPlayer start.
- Unusual behavior I noticed:
  If I firstly start VLC/MPlayer, and then I start Kmix, the changing of volume in Kmix has no effect, - both players does not produce any sound.   
- Custom settings of the application:
 My system (Sabayon Linux based on Gentoo) use PulseAudio

The crash can be reproduced every time.
