Description Christoph Wickert 2012-03-28 21:28:30 UTC
Please add an option to store appointments in a certain timezones rather than converting the timezone to local time. Example: I have an IRC meeting every week at 20:00 UTC. It is always 20:00 UTC, regardless of daylight saving or traveling. Participants are around the world and for them the daylight saving happens on different weekends than for me. Therefor the only way to meet reliably is UTC.

In fact I think that an event should always be stored in the timezone the user selects rather than being converted as one saves it. If the user manually selected another timezone than the local one, he probably did this for a good reason. In case people really want a date converted, one could add a chekbox "Convert to local time", but the default should be to not convert but store it in the selected timezone.

Or is "Floating" what I am looking for. Unfortunately this is not explained in the KOrganizer handbook (see bug 296990)

Current KOrganizer versions let you do this. You can choose a time zone for the event in the Event Editor.
