User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:10.0.1) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/10.0.1 Build Identifier: About a month ago, I upgraded from Fedora 14 to Fedora 16, and in the process "upgraded" to kmail2 4.7.4. Since then, kmail will occasionally indicate that a folder has new messages, but the messages will not show up in the message list for that folder. Switching from that folder to another folder and back doesn't help. Usually CTL-Q'ing and restarting kmail2 will bring the messages to the message list, but the problem is very likely to recur again soon after. Eventually (sometimes even the first time) the CTL-Q/restart sequence doesn't work, and a reboot is required. Needless to say, this does not enhance my day's productivity. This issue happens at least once per day. Let me know what additional information I can provide to help solve this. Reproducible: Always
I see exactly the same problem running KDE 4.10.2 on Kubuntu 12.10. However, until now, I haven't needed to reboot to make the messages appear in the message list. Quiting and reopening KMail has been enough here.
I also see this with KMail 4.11.1 (Kubuntu 13.04) and dovecot-imapd 2.1.7-7 (Debian 7).
Have also seen this with current Git master. (local folders fetched via POP3, not IMAP)
This sounds quite similar to #312460
Sorry... Bug 312460
This bug has only been reported for versions before 4.14, which have been unsupported for at least two years now. Can anyone tell if this bug still present? If noone confirms this bug for a Framework-based version of kmail2 (version 5.0 or later, as part of KDE Applications 15.12 or later), it gets closed in about three months.
I gave up on Kmail about a year and a half ago. As far as I'm concerned, you can close this bug.
Just as announced in my last comment, I close this bug. If you encounter it again in a recent version (at least 5.0 aka 15.08), please open a new one unless it already exists. Thank you for all your input.
