Description harry bennett 2012-03-13 21:50:16 UTC
User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64) AppleWebKit/535.11 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/17.0.963.65 Safari/535.11
Build Identifier:

when importing either *.qif or *.ofx files,
A popup appears (see attached), asking the user to:
"Please select a default category for payee" for payees that kmymoney2 cannot match to existing payees

However there is no text widget provided for the user to view the imported transaction in question to make that decision. All one can do is guess. Which only means that we will have to chase the transaction down later.

It will do this for EVERY transaction it cannot match. So if we are going to have or want to chase them down later, would a check box "for all transactions" be appropriate here?
[this is not a preferred thing to me, but would be a cheap fix in the short term for the larger issue]

<feature request>
Additionally, this would be a great place to create filters for the same.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1.import qif or ofx file
2.there needs to be payees that do not match. should be easy if you use a debit card
3.you'll see, cant miss it
Actual Results:
see description

Expected Results:
I would expect to see the what the payee string for the imported transaction (so I could determine the category without guessing)

also on Mint 12 and Ubuntu 11.10 platforms. This error/bug was also reported to the kmm mailing list, but as yet no comment.

In the short term, pending an expert's free time, and to avoid having to guess, might it be easier for you if you unchecked the 'ask for a new payee's default category'? Once the import concludes, the transactions in question should be flagged.

OK. Will do. Did not know there was that option.
