- What I was doing when the application crashed:

I pressed a keyboard shortcut to adjust the volume.
A plasma window appeared that showed the change that was done (the normal volume overlay / OSD) , stayed it's normal delay, then disappeared.
Shortly after, the kmix icon disappeared from the trey, and I was presented with the crash handler.

***This happens once per 5-20 volume adjustments.***

The crash can be reproduced some of the time.
