I'm openSUSE Chinese Sub-forum Moderator, and I came across that almost no one in the forum sufffers the same problem as me. I debug through Google, but found no similar situations. Issues they mentioned are all about 3 to 4 years ago and have been fixed. so I opened a thread here: http://forums.opensuse.org/english/get-technical-help-here/applications/472820-kdesu-issues-yast2-networkmanager-2.html Got no useful solutions but helps me narrow the key of the problem from YaST2 or NetworkManager to kdesu, then to fingerprint. So after kdesu prompt, I tried to swipe my finger on my thinkpad finger reader. kdesu no longer hangs. So this hang is caused by missing guide to fingerprint authorization for users. they don't know they need to swipe their fingers because there's already a password field there. then kdesu just waits until fingerprint session hangs then login using the plain root password. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.Configure your finger print for root 2.Relogin 3.Click "YaST2" or "Install Software" or any application needs root. Actual Results: in kdesu prompt, only a blank to fill in your root password. but no hint for fingerprint. Expected Results: there should be root password field and an icon (grey by default) to hint that you need to swipe your finger after clicking okay. bug 113313 might be duplicate of this one. https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=113313
