Starting with KDE 4.8.1 it seems that when I am creating a file using "Create new" from the contextual menu it gets a .desktop extension. I don't know if this is related directly to Dolphin, but I'm filling this bug here as it is related with file management. Reproductibility: always Steps to reproduce: 1. Right-click on an empty area in Dolphin 2. Select "Create new" from the menu 3. Select a file type 4. Name your file _with an extension_ (seems that this bug doesn't occur when we are not setting an extension), for example test.txt What's happening: The newly created file has it's name <inserted_filename>.desktop (or text.txt.desktop, if you named the file as in 4.) What should be happening: The newly created file should have exactly the name inserted by the user.
