User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:10.0.1) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/10.0.1
Build Identifier:

After minimizing a window docked to a side of the screen, restoring it causes it to be undocked and to appear at the position where the window was when it snapped onto the screen edge. This leaves the window partially off-screen, which is annoying. The window should remain docked even when it gets minimized.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Dock a window to the screen edge.
2. Minimize window.
3. Restore window, it's now undocked and partially off-screen.
Actual Results:
The window gets undocked and is partially off-screen.

Expected Results:
The window stays docked.

KDE Development Platform: 4.7.4 (4.7.4)

regarding bugs #295416, #295417 & #295418

Can you please
a) uncheck "display borders on maximized windows" in "kcmshell4 kwinoptions", "moving" tab. It crosses at least the quick maximization (aka aero snap) feature.
b) ensure you do NOT have configured more than one activity
c) try KDE >= 4.8.0

Also see here: https://git.reviewboard.kde.org/r/103948/

Regarding this bug and iff it's not covered by the above: please describe "partially off-screen"

(ftr: can't reproduce any of those bugs, but i've still the above patch compiled in which is explicitly NOT meant as a final solution but as animated mockup)

I tried all three steps (using KDE 4.8.0 now), and it didn't make a difference except for the resizing of full-screen windows which appears to be completely disabled now.

By "partially off-screen" I mean that the window goes back to the position where it was when it snapped (i.e. probably on the screen edge), but gets unsnapped.

There've been relevant changes. Is this still an issue with 4.9?
Comment 4 Martin Flöser 2013-01-18 19:29:21 UTC
we need to know whether it's still an issue with 4.9 or even better 4.10
