the ambience color scheme is simply broken, just look at other apps - they are unreadable with that scheme as well.
Could you give an example of another failing app. I've tried with gnome (firefox, libre, ...) and kde (Kile) apps and I don't see this behaviour. As I said, customizing the 'Tooltips' colors in the scheme fix colors in most applications. This has been reported in the forums. It even fixes most of the tooltips in Kdevelop but does not fix the two I comment (Quickopen and Outline). Fair to say that if I change to a white scheme like Radiance everything works just fine.
even qt designer is completely bogus and basically all "click-texts" in line edits, like e.g. "filters..." in kdevelop's project view etc. pp. note that e.g. obsidian coast looks just fine.
Thanks Milian, I was checking but there's no 'obsidian coast' theme in Ubuntu Natty. That theme is for KDE4 distributions. The thing is that my other KDE applications do not have problems with the colors, e.g. Kile works just fine and all the tooltips are easy to read. Now, I'm using Clearlooks theme to fix Quickopen and Outline but now Kdevelop is having problems with the other tooltips. I've been told to report the bug again in the forums.
