Same happens to me. Kactivitymanagerd crashes at almost any time that I start KDE. Might be the same as https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=290234 . Same for me, each time I log in kde it crash with the same backtrace.
I have very similar behavior here using Chakra x64 KDE 4.8.1. The Activity Manager crashes after login, not always but 3/4 times. Unfortunately I get no useful backtrace on crash. I think this bug is very much related to this one: https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=290234
