Version: unspecified (using KDE 4.8.0) OS: Linux When i create a new Group, i can see the added Kontact a short time at the right column, after a few seconds they disappear. Only the Group is shown in the list of kontacts, if i choose the group to edit i see the changes only a short time. I have this problem in Kontact 4.4.1 at Pardus and PCLinuxOS and in Kontact 4.8 at Chakra. Reproducible: Always
I have the same problem with Fedora-16 (kdepim-4.8.2-1.fc16.i686). This makes the group facility completely useless. I note that when a contact is added to a group, the entry in ~/.kde/share/apps/kabc/distlists is modified by the addition of a cipher; but this cipher is not the same as the contact UID.
Tested in Mageia 2 beta 3 - KDE 4.8.2. Good news - contacts added to group some months ago are still visible. Bad news - attempting to Edit, to add another name, crashed Kontact - tried a second time, to confirm the problem and it behaved identically. Sadly, then, this may still be broken.

Reopen if you have backtrace
