Description kingsley 2012-02-16 10:31:42 UTC
Version: unspecified (using KDE 1.2)
OS: Linux

I am running Scientific Linux 6.1 and KDE 4.3.4 in folder view mode

When the mouse pointer is moved to the bottom right of the screen near the clock it freezes for two or three seconds during which time it can't move away.

I run Debian KDE (4.4.5) in a VM and it has the same problem.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
Move the pointer to the bottom right of the screen.

Actual Results:
The pointer freezes.

Expected Results:
It shouldn't freeze.

It's not critical but it is extremely annoying.

We need more information to be able to find out why this is happening for you.

1) Try LiveCD of a newer KDE version (4.7 or 4.8), it might be already fixed.

2) If it still happens with a recent KDE, check if a specific configuration is
responsible. Try to reproduce the bug with a freshly created user account.

3) Comment #0 indicates hovering the panel might be the problem. Try removing applets from the panel, to check if any of them is responsible. Also try to move the panel to the screens' top position, to rule out screen-position specific issues (driver, etc.)

Hi Christoph

I tried with a new user but forgot to select KDE when I logged in so I got a gnome session and it did the same thing so this isn't a KDE issue. Just to be sure I also tried with XFCE and had the same problem.

I can now confirm this is not a KDE issue but was a problem with a series of ATI catalyst drivers. I have now updated to the latest driver and the problem is resolved.
