Version: 4.8 (using KDE 4.8.0) OS: Linux kmail with akonadi promises many feature but when you have a huge imap mailbox (20k Messages) organized in folders, kmail simply freezes trying to download messages. If you have nepomuk services enabled all the system resource (8Gb Ram AMD Phenom II) is used by indexing services. While nepomuk/akonadi service isn't stabilized kmail must not use it, or if it is possible, it should be disabled by option. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: launch kmail with imap account with many messages in it organized by folder Expected Results: Read Mail The bug doesn't cause data loss but cause loss of usability of the whole KDE environment. And this is a pity. Akonadi, nepomuk are to young to be deployed in the kde enviroment. Adding also the fact that plasma itself have many problems. Please dear KDE guru take time to consolidate the desktop. I'm a KDE entusiast since 1.4 but now it's very difficult to use on daily basis due to its resource hungry!
The mailbox I have is about 130000 messages organized in folders. With Thunderbird there is no problem at all so is not a imap server (Cyrus) issue.
I find that in .xsession-error I have huge reportings of akonadi.... (by the way, .xsession-error is going to filling the whole home directory) line entry are like this: AkonadiAgentServer(6787)/akonadiserializer (calendar) Akonadi::SerializerPluginKCalCore::deserialize: "" AkonadiAgentServer(6787)/libakonadi Akonadi::ItemSerializer::deserialize: Unable to deserialize payload part: "RFC822" AkonadiAgentServer(6787)/libakonadi Akonadi::ItemSerializer::deserialize: Payload data was: "" AkonadiAgentServer(6787)/kdepimlibs (kcalcore) KCalCore::ICalFormat::fromRawString: parse error AkonadiAgentServer(6787)/akonadiserializer (calendar) Akonadi::SerializerPluginKCalCore::deserialize: Failed to parse incidence! Hi there, this bug has been identified to be related to nepomuk, the semantic searching system in prior versions of KDE. Please note that nepomuk has been replaced by Baloo. I'm going to close this bug due to the use of the new Baloo system. Please do file a new bug for frameworks-baloo if you happen to continue having issues with search.
