Description Achim Theobald 2012-02-05 10:35:24 UTC
Version: 2.5.0 (using KDE 4.8.0)
OS: Linux

If I use my Canon G9 with a 16GB SD card, I can easily import images in Digikam. But if I use the G9 with a 32GB SD card then it works only until the SD-Card is less then 50% full. If it is more full then show the Cameradisplay "comunication error" if I would like to start an import.
If I use the camera with the same 32GB SD card on Windows I can always import images into the Canon software.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
CANON G9 with 32SDHC card which is more then 50% full

Actual Results:
"communication error" on camera display

Expected Results:
Import should be start

OS: Linux (x86_64) release 2.6.37.6-0.11-desktop
Compiler: gcc

Do you use a card reader or do you use your canon camera connected to your computer ?

In last case, it's a dysfunction into libgphoto2 used by all Canon devices.

You're right, I forgot to specify the connection type.
I use the camera connected via USB in PTP mode to my computer.

I sure that it's a dysfunction in libgphoto2.

Can you test with a card reader, just to confirm (here, i sure i use 64Gb card with a card reader without any problem).

I've tried out the behavior with two card readers and the 32GB SD card now and with both the import works fine.

ok, this is that i suspected. digiKam import through card reader do not use libgphoto2

Please report the problem to gphoto2 team into dedicated bugzilla. There is a problem in Canon libgphoto2 driver.

Thanks in advance
