Description Martin Stolpe 2012-02-04 11:35:04 UTC
Version: 4.8 (using KDE 4.8.0)
OS: Linux

I've added a Google calendar resource to akonadi as described here: http://www.dennogumi.org/2011/06/access-multiple-google-calendars-from-korganizer
But after I've added the calendar I get the error message mentioned in the summary.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. open korganizer
2. go to: "Settings" -> "Configure KOrganizer" -> "General" -> "Calendars"
3. select "Add..."
4. Choose "DAV groupware resource"
5. enter your Google credentials
6. select "Configure the resource manually"
7. click "Add" in the "DAV groupware resource" dialog
8. under "Remote calendar access" enter in "Remote URL" your Google calendar address: https://www.google.com/calendar/dav/ [ your Google Calendar ID ] /events
The click fetch and select your calendar
9. Confirm all dialogs with "OK" and restart korganizer
10. After you have restarted korganizer the error message should be shown.

Actual Results:
An error message is shown that item couldn't be fetched from backend.

Expected Results:
Google calendar events should be shown in korganizer.

I have the same problem, but with a twist: It works for my private GMail account, but have this error for two calendars from my work account which is using Google apps for domains.

Hi,

A standard Google account (not Google Apps) works fine for me. Do you have anything special in your ~/.xsession-errors?

Also, does the calendar contains a lot of events? Not sure it's related though :)

Cheers,
Grégory

xsession-errors log file

I don't know what I have to look for in the xsession-errors log file. I've tried to include everything which seems to be related to akonadi and the calendar ressource in the attached log file.

Hi,

I've just commited a fix that will make it into KDE 4.8.2 and that may address this issue. Can you confirm how it's working for you once you have updated?

Cheers,
Grégory

Hi Grégory,

I will try to import my Google Calendar after 4.8.2 has been released and report back the result. Thanks for looking into this problem!

Regards
Martin

Same problem here.
Kubuntu 11.10 with KDE 4.8.1

I've tested it with 4.8.2 and it seems to work now.

There's an interesting alternative though which is called "akonadi-google". It offers some features like adding tasks and ability to select several calendars.
