Description Yngve Levinsen 2012-02-02 09:05:41 UTC
Version: 0.5.81 (using KDE 4.7.4)
OS: Linux

I feel this is a bit minor, but I feel it is one of those things that would improve the experience of using Okular. Don't worry though, it is already the best document viewer I've seen by a good margin ;)

I mostly use the "fit to page" setting, but whenever I reopen Okular it is back to "fit to width". I've noticed that most other settings, like e.g. "continuous scrolling" or "two page view" are kept when Okular is reopened, but not this one. Perhaps you have a good reason for doing so, but for me it feels ever so slightly annoying (emphasis on slightly).

Reason is many documents I view (most commonly pdf slides), almost fit one page perfectly inside the window. What happens then is that when I have "fit to width", the pages are "flickering" in an uncomfortable manner when I scroll.

Again, this is a minor thing but I would be very happy if you could fix it. I'm marking this minor as a result.

Thank you for making this awesome application! :)

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
Open document. Select "fit to page". Close Okular and reopen a document.

Actual Results:
The setting is back to "fit to width".

Expected Results:
Setting kept as it was previously, "fit to page".

OS: Linux (x86_64) release 3.1-CHAKRA
Compiler: gcc

The page mode is remembered per document. Besides in Okular from KDE 4.8.0 you can choose the default mode for documents you are opening for the first time, that should cover all your cases.

Ah, yes, I haven't noticed that. That is even more clever than I thought of!

Looking forward to 4.8 arriving in a few days then, thanks for informing me.
