Description kavol 2012-02-01 16:27:11 UTC
Version: unspecified (using KDE 4.8.0)
OS: Linux

The default icon for .mbox is the same as for .txt files. This is pretty confusing - I guess the best would be to use the same icon as for .eml files.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. touch test.eml test.mbox test.txt
2. dolphin
3. stare at the screen and compare the icons

Actual Results:
a) the icon for test.eml has an envelope over it, supposing that it contains mail message
b) the icon for test.txt has letters "txt" over it, supposing that it has .txt extension, or maybe there is some tExt in there
c) the icon for test.mbox is the same as for test.txt, supposing the same

Expected Results:
a) the same, there's mail in there
b) the same, there's plain tExt in there
c) the icon for test.mbox has an envelope over it, supposing that it contains mail message(s) just like test.eml

I don't mind doing a mimetype for your icon, but are you sure it exyxts in the fredesktop standard??? if it does just provide-me with a name for it and i will do it

Well, I don't know how do these things work internally so I have troubles understanding the question ...

I thought that Freedesktop standardises only the way the common data are stored, not the types itself?

I see the type "application/mbox" defined here: http://tools.ietf.org/html/rfc4155

In SystemSettings, if you go to File Associations, you can unfold the "application" group and then select "mbox" - there you see that it matches "*.mbox" file pattern, so it already exists, only the default icon doesn't represent the real contents.

> if it does just provide-me with a name for it and i will do it

Looking at different types, I see the common naming scheme corresponds to the mime type namings, i.e. "application/mbox" would be "application-mbox.svg"
