Description Andre Heinecke 2012-01-31 11:26:19 UTC
Version: 4.8.x (using KDE 4.8.0)
OS: MS Windows

Triggering the summary view causes Kontact to launch a multitude of item fetch jobs, which take increasingly long to complete all the while akonadi is blocked (probably because of sqlite) and things in the GUI fail / freeze etc.
The Jobs are started by the ApptsSummaryWidget.

During this time akonadi shows no cpu activity but the Kontact process eats up one core.

After all jobs are ended (~4:30s in my setup) everything is back to normal and opening the summary again works fine.

I can only reproduce this completly reliable in one setup with three accounts of average size (1.61GB akonadi database). On a smaller setup i could not reproduce this reliable but it happened from time to time.

Reproducible: Sometimes

Steps to Reproduce:
Open summary view,..

Expected Results:
Summary widget should be shown after max. 10 seconds

I have not yet tried to reproduce this with the same setup on linux.

This bug has only been reported for versions before 4.14, which have been unsupported for at least two years now. Can anyone tell if this bug still present?

If noone confirms this bug for a Framework-based version of kontact (version 5.0 or later, as part of KDE Applications 15.08 or later), it gets closed in about three months.

Just as announced in my last comment, I close this bug. If you encounter it again in a recent version (at least 5.0 aka 15.08), please open a new one unless it already exists. Thank you for all your input.
