Version: unspecified (using KDE 4.8.0) OS: Linux I have Kubuntu 11.10 with KDE 4.8 installed (upgraded from 4.7.3) on a MacBook Pro (ATI video, opensource ati driver) with an external monitor attached. The laptop display resolution is 1440x900, the external monitor is 2560x1440. I have set up the displays in the System Settings as follows: the external monitor is right of the laptop display, and is selected as the main display. I have saved this configuration as the default. However, after reboot the configuration is lost and the external display is set to resolution 1280x800 or so at offset 0, 0 (i.e. it clones the top left part of the laptop display). Also, I have noticed that if I restore my display configuration by hand (i.e. set the display resolution and layout _and_ select the external monitor as the main display) and only then press Apply, the laptop display is sometimes left black. It does show windows and mouse, but it doesn't react to right clicks and has no wallpaper. However, If I set resolutions and layout, press Apply, then select the external monitor as the main one and press Apply the second time, this doesn't happen. I didn't test this too much, so I can't tell how consistent this is. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Setup the multiple displays layout. 2. Save it as the default layout. 3. Reboot and login. Actual Results: The saved configuration is lost. Expected Results: The displays configuration should be restored. This didn't happen on 4.7, the saved settings restored after logging in as KDE booted into the workplace.
