Description Ed Eyles 2012-01-30 11:23:16 UTC
Version: 4.6 (using KDE 4.6.0)
OS: Linux

I was prompted to report this as a bug via the reporting tool that was invoked automatically upon the crash of kpackagekit. I got all the way through the reporting tool's process, but it would not let me complete it, with the message "Error sending the crash report: /Sorry, entering a bug into the product kpackagekit has been disabled./". I have no idea what to make of this. I have pasted below the contents of the crash report that would have been sent had the reporting tool not had this error. It includes a description.

Application: kpackagekitsmarticon (0.6.3.3)
KDE Platform Version: 4.6.00 (4.6.0) "release 6"
Qt Version: 4.7.1
Operating System: Linux 2.6.37.6-0.11-desktop i686
Distribution: "openSUSE 11.4 (i586)"

-- Information about the crash:
- What I was doing when the application crashed:
kpackagekit was in the process of downloading software updates. The only other activity on the machine was in a konsole, where as root I had issued a series of mount commands for NFS and SMB mounts (some of which failed owing to the remote machines not being available).

This openSUSE installation is running as a guest operating system in a VMware Player virtual machine running on Windows XP.

-- Backtrace:
Application: KPackageKit (kpackagekitsmarticon), signal: Segmentation fault

Thanks. Good to see that this bug has been fixed. Which means I was
just imagining the crash, since my software was all up to date, right?

You have marked this bug as a duplicate of one that was fixed in
December 2010. Reading that bug history, it is impossible to tell what
the fix was or whether there was really any fix. It contains a comment
that openSUSE needs a packagekit-qt patch that was developed for
Kubuntu. This is followed by a comment that says the bug is being
closed because openSUSE's version of packagekit does NOT include this
fix.

Huh?

Could I suggest that these bugs get reopened and the patch incorporated
into the package?

Regards
Ed
