Description Christopher Yeleighton 2012-01-27 19:09:49 UTC
Version: unspecified (using KDE 4.7.2)
OS: Linux

The KDE info page is too optimistic about the quality of the software it describes. An uninvolved observer will conclude that the KDE team does not give a sh*t about QA.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
  1. "KDE 4.7.4 Info Page" [1]

Actual Results:
  1.
This is a list of grave bugs and common pitfalls surfacing after the release was packaged:
none known

Expected Results:

This is a list of grave bugs and common pitfalls surfacing after the release was packaged:
(list of bugs blocking this bug; in particular, Bug 285758, Bug 292562, core applications undocumented)

Let’s assume that a grave bug is a bug that makes you look like a fool if you try to persuade a prospective customer to switch to KDE.

Oh, it looks like WWW bugs cannot depend on anything, so let’s just list them in comments.
Comment 2 Anne-Marie Mahfouf 2012-02-01 09:48:43 UTC
I don't think the bugs you mention are "grave" bugs
(Bug 285758, Bug 292562, core applications undocumented)
they are bugs, that's it.
If there are severe bugs, the first thing is to mark them as such.

A grave bug will kill your computer, calling these two bugs you linked is a bad joke.

A bug that will kill my computer is a kernel bug. KDE does not publish hardware drivers so it is not in position to contain those kinds of bugs.

As far as KDE is concerned, a grave bug is a bug that kills KDE in the eyes of the customer. And those bugs are that grave.

Bugs in KDE Bugzilla cannot be marked as "severe".
Comment 6 Anne-Marie Mahfouf 2012-02-02 09:35:51 UTC
There is a Severity field. But none of the mentioned bugs can have a higher severity.

Bug 118594 is marked severity="grave". Still, the Web page claims that there are no grave bugs. This is a contradiction.
