Version: 4.7.2 (using KDE 4.8.0) OS: Linux Akregator crashes on the following blog post http://0pointer.de/blog/projects/linuxcon-kernel-panel.html that contains a <video> tag with a webm file Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. add the blog http://0pointer.de/blog/index.rss20 2. preview the item "Kernel hackers panel" (2011/11/07) Actual Results: akregator crashes (in my system without producing an useful stack trace and without finding debug packages to install) Expected Results: The article is previewed (eventually without the video if <video> tag support is missing) I'm using akregator and kde from kubuntu-backports ppa
> Version: 4.7.2 (using KDE 4.8.0) There's an installation issue. the Akregator version should also be 4.8.0
Can't reproduce with the khtml nor the webkit engine. Please fix your installation and retry
(and make sure you don't use the phonon-xine backend)
>There's an installation issue. the Akregator version should also be 4.8.0 >Please fix your installation and retry This is happened the same day I upgrade to kde 4.8.0, thus akregator incorrectly reported 4.7.2 but was indeed updated to version 4.8.0. After rebooting akregator version is 4.8.0, so nothing to fix. > (and make sure you don't use the phonon-xine backend) I switched to phonon-gstreamer backend and this indeed solves the issue. Could you please point me to extra information regarding phonon-xine issue (or if there is some criteria to choose the backend)?
(In reply to comment #4) > I switched to phonon-gstreamer backend and this indeed solves the issue. > Could you please point me to extra information regarding phonon-xine issue (or > if there is some criteria to choose the backend)? The phonon-xine backend is unmaintained and unsupported since months as announced a few months ago: http://lists.kde.org/?l=kde-announce&m=130744384419151 All recent crashes involving the phonon+xine combinaison are now closed as 'unmaintained'
