Description Soenke Dibbern 2012-01-27 10:04:04 UTC
Version: 4.7 (using KDE 4.7.4)
OS: Linux

I try to share calendars between different boxes. So I have a couple of ics calendars which I encrypt and export to a ftp server on KDE shutdown via scripts in ~/.kde4/shutdown.

In .kde4/Autostart I have scripts which download and decrypt the calendar files on KDE start, and move the decrypted ics files into the expected place.

Apparently, then it's already too late for Akonadi. On KOrganizer start, I always see the calendars as it was when I last time left that box.

This happens independently from the import mode (whether I have the ics files imported as "ics calendar files" or as a "standard KDE resource/calendar file on remote server", even if I enable the "watch file" option).

The "reload automatically after" option is not an option because 1) it takes a lot of CPU to import a bigger calendar file and 2) the respective file's contents are no longer visible - the visibility mark gets removed while reimporting the file (but that is probably worth another bug report)

F5 doesn't help neither.

If you don't spot this problem, you could easily overwrite the file with the actual Akonadi contents, fx. at shut down, and lose data.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
Create an ics resource or kde standard / remote file resource
modify it after KDE has started

Actual Results:
no changes in KOrganizer

Expected Results:
reflection of the changes, at least if "watch file" is enabled

OS: Linux (x86_64) release 2.6.34.10-0.6-default
Compiler: gcc

Are you using akonadi_ical_resource or akonadi_kcal_resource ?

This bug has only been reported for versions before 4.14, which have been unsupported for at least two years now. Can anyone tell if this bug still present?

If noone confirms this bug for a Framework-based version of korganizer (version 5.0 or later, as part of KDE Applications 15.08 or later), it gets closed in about three months.

Just as announced in my last comment, I close this bug. If you encounter it again in a recent version (at least 5.0 aka 15.08), please open a new one unless it already exists. Thank you for all your input.
