Description Slobodan Terzić 2012-01-25 21:44:50 UTC
Version: 4.8 (using Devel)
OS: Linux

Missing folders (and their contents) represent 3 out of 4 Serbian translation variants.
Missing folders were included in kde-l10n-4.7.97.tar.bz2., as a part of last RC.

AFAIK, there were no changes in packaging system since RC, nor did Serbian translation team change anything since then, so I honestlly don't know what happened.

Also, I'd like to point out that exactly the same problem has been happening every now and then for the past 2 years, almost exclusively on every major release (4.5.0, 4.6.0, 4.7.0 had the same problem and now 4.8 has it again). Practically, Serbian users always have to wait for first maintainance release to get properlly packaged Serbian localisation.
So I ask you kindly that we finally get to the bottom of this, and solve this problem once and for all.
I'm willing to help, Serbian translation team is willing to help.
If there is a problem with translations source, or packaging procedure, let's fix it.

Thank you for your time, and your help.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
Compile Serbian 4.8.0 package.

Actual Results:
Serbian latin, ijekavian and ijekavian latin translation variants do not exist.

Expected Results:
They should be there.

Compiling Serbian translation pack from trunk reproduces no problem, missing folders were tagged for 4.8.0 final.

For me the l10n packing scripts in trunk/kde-common/release do the job as
usual, producing the expected full package:

http://nedohodnik.net/kde-sr/kde-l10n-sr-4.8.0.tar.bz2

It would be really nice if we could sort out what is going wrong on the
particular machine used to produce official language packs.
Comment 2 Chusslove Illich 2012-02-13 08:46:36 UTC
I was thinking a bit. Given that the language pack is generated without
errors but missing sr@* variants, could it be that these variants were
simply not present in the tag checkout? That would cause the given state.
sr@* variants are not listed in release/language_list, and maybe before the
top packaging script is run (release/pack kde-l10n $version) only the
languages listed in release/language_list are checked out? Or, if packaging
is done in parallel, maybe release/language_list is first being used to
split the job into several working directories?

Elem, čisto da ovako interno dodam da je kolac propisno zašiljen,
omašćen i nadasve željan.

Pa da krenemo redom i logično?

Comment 5 Chusslove Illich 2012-03-07 13:17:42 UTC
Here is again the proper pack, produced by just running the release script
on my machine:

http://nedohodnik.net/kde-sr/kde-l10n-sr-4.8.1.tar.bz2
http://nedohodnik.net/kde-sr/kde-l10n-sr-4.8.1.tar.xz

Could these perhaps be added to FTP, until we sort out the problem?

I have nothing to do with this, you want to notify Dirk Müller and the release-team and kde-packagers lists
Comment 7 Albert Astals Cid 2012-08-14 22:54:31 UTC
This has been fixed since 4.9.0 packages at least
