Steps to Reproduce:
it happens each time I start my computer

Actual Results:  
no menu entry

Expected Results:  
menu full of entries

Install the package that offers the file "/etc/xdg/menus/applications.menu" file, then run kbuildsycoca4 again. In openSUSE this would be "desktop-data-openSUSE" package. Please ask in the forum how the package is called in your distribution.

Addititionally, it looks like nothing added the KDE dirs to the XDG search path, so the KDE default "applications.menu" file is not found either. Again, please ask in the forum how/where the XDG paths are setup.
