Description Mark Fraser 2011-12-31 12:39:00 UTC
Version: 2.5 (using Devel)
OS: Linux

I have Amarok 2.5 configured to run at log in and show an icon in they system tray. This works OK in KDE 4.7.4, but in KDE 4.8RC1 I am unable to see the icon. Amarok is running as it shows in System Activity.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
Configure to have a system tray icon. Reboot the computer, Amarok is missing from the system tray.

Expected Results:
I expected to see Amarok's icon in the system tray.

I can't reproduce this here, same version and distribution, KDE 4.8 RC1. Please check that the option for the Amarok Systray icon is set to either "Auto" or "always visible", both work for me.
Comment 2 Mark Fraser 2011-12-31 13:07:22 UTC
I don't have an entry for Amarok in the Sys Tray, so I am unable to set it to anything!
Comment 3 Myriam Schweingruber 2011-12-31 13:19:05 UTC
Not even in the SysTray settings? That should be reported upstream to KDE then. Which Qt version do you use? I still have version 4.7.4, maybe it was changed in Qt 4.8?
Comment 4 Mark Fraser 2012-01-29 14:21:53 UTC
An update to this bug, I've noticed that Amarok is loaded and there is a space for the icon in the systray it just isn't visible. If I click in the space where the icon should be, Amarok appears and if I right-click the menu appears.
Comment 5 Myriam Schweingruber 2012-01-29 18:00:03 UTC
Can you still reproduce this with KDE 4.8 final? It works perfectly fine for me here.
Comment 6 Mark Fraser 2012-01-29 22:01:12 UTC
I can reproduce this on 4.8 final, but so far on only one machine.
Comment 7 Johannes Wienke 2012-02-02 21:26:42 UTC
I suspect that there is a general problem with the visibility of tray icons. Look e.g. here: https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=134699
Comment 8 Myriam Schweingruber 2012-02-29 11:04:57 UTC
So this is apparently an upstream problem, moving the old KDE configuration should solve the issue.

Please read the comments (especially comments #7 and 8) before confirming reports that are marked as upstream.
