> #16 0xb771d90f in ?? () from /usr/lib/libkdeinit4_kwin.so we don't see where in KWin it crashed due to missing debug symbols. My fair guess is that the crash has been triggered by the running update. In case you are able to reproduce the crash please install the debug symbols and attach a new backtrace.
(updating the system should not affect -but oc. for shared memory incompatibility- the running system) *** The following is wild speculation for the records. As Martin said, we don't know anything without a proper backtrace *** #11 0xb5ed04bc in QAbstractItemView::event (this=0x823c558, event=0xbf855020) at itemviews/qabstractitemview.cpp:1564 Somewhere in the tabbox, i assume (i don't think we've other itemviews in kwin, do we?) #6 0xb5983600 in QWidget::contentsRect (this=0x823c558) at kernel/qwidget.cpp:7196 That should be Q_D(const QWidget); so i *fear* (we know nothing w/o a proper backtrace) this is an event delivered to a dying widget. -> Tabbox means plasma, plasma means qgraphicsscene, qgraphicsscene *possibly* means related to the random weird crashes in aurorae ... :-\ It also means that this trouble is hopefully done with QML
