Description Harry 2011-12-22 22:48:07 UTC
Version: 4.8.x (using KDE 4.7.3)
OS: Linux

With Kmail 1, I was able to create an Event via dragging the email to the Calendar Icon. Now with kmail 2, this does not work as before. What happens is an event is created with the subject as the Akonadi record description. Before it made an event with " Mail:xxxxxxxxx" in the Subject line.

I used this Event feature to record correspondence while looking for work. This way the entries were less prone to deletion ( From mistakingly deleting past ToDos via that Menu Selection),

I did see that there was a menu entry for ToDo/reminder in the Kmail module. What I would like to see would be an additional entry for creating an Event from the selected mail. I think the code for the Create ToDo could be used and substitute Event for ToDo, and add a menu entry for this.

I have been using Kontact for a couple of years now, and it is a fantastic PIM.

This request is for a feature that was somewhat undocumented in the earlier Kontact documentation. It would be easier to do a menu select than the Drag & Drop Method.

Thanks!

Reproducible: Didn't try

Steps to Reproduce:
Drag & Drop on Calendar Icon does not create event with Mail:xxxxx in the Event Subject line. Instead it inserts the Record identifier from Akonadi.

Actual Results:
Inserts the Record identifier from Akonadi.

Expected Results:
Create Event with email subject as Mail: email subject in Event Subject line

Valid in master.

D&D to to the calendar/todo icons in kontact creates an event named akonadi:?item=XXX&type=message%2Frfc822
