Description Michal Thoma 2011-12-19 09:23:51 UTC
Version: 2.4.0 (using KDE 4.7.2)
OS: Linux

Rigth now it's quite easy to set the image on the right panel of Light Table windows. Just click on the image with mouse or browsing using PageUp/PageDown.

Reproducible: Couldn't Reproduce

Steps to Reproduce:
Though the changing image in the left pane is quite difficult - options are drag'n'drop (unresponsive), using right click context menu or click on button bar or CTRL+L on the keyboard.

Actual Results:
These is too much hassle - when comparing a great number of photographs some easier and more straightforward way of changing left image would be better.

Expected Results:
I think behavior can be improved with keyboard shortcuts -

-Pressing Tab to change "active" side from right pane to left pane and vice versa. PageUP/PageDown affecting only the image on the active side (same with assignment shortcuts). Ctrl+PageUp/Ctrl+PageDown to change image on inactive side.

This would give user nearly total control over LightTable using keyboard, which is very plausible.

With the mouse - clicking on the left side of thumbnail - opening image in the left pane, clicking on the right side, opening on right. Or display overlay icon over thumbnail to put image on left in one click.

Issue still persist anyway after 5 years I'm OK with current behavior. Still I believe that suggested feature would be slight improvement.

CTRL+L ==> put the current item to the left side
CTRL+R ==> put the current item on the right side.
Comment 4 caulier.gilles 2023-05-19 05:10:19 UTC
TAB ==> advance in the thumb bar, and change current item selected. depending of the light table loading mode (by pair or not), assign current item to the right panel or left and right panels at the same time.

PgUP and PgDW give the same behavior than TAB but you can go back or go next in thumb bar items list. It's the desired behavior.
Comment 6 caulier.gilles 2023-05-19 05:16:24 UTC
CTRL+PgUP or CTRL+PgDW : disable by pair mode, and this give the desired behavior.

In other word, WORK FOR ME
