Version: unspecified (using KDE 4.7.3) OS: Linux I have several POP3 accounts in my KMail2 and those are set to Keep E-Mails on the server because I also want to receive my mail from the smartphone, pc etc (dunno if Hotmail supports IMAP though). At some random time, I could not yet reproduce it, I get a messages by Akonadi saying "Local Folder: Message "$someid.R437.kaiuwe-tragbar" could not be moved." (I have automatic filtering enabled) and if such a message appeared, the trouble begins; with no way of solving it except of patiently waiting (> 50 MB and I only got a surfstick with limited quota!) and afterwards deleting all the "unread e-mails" (and since there is also no way of only searching for Unread Mails that have been sent yesterday or earlier, this is quite a pain …) Reproducible: Sometimes Steps to Reproduce: I have absolutely no idea to reliably reproduce this. But the option to leave the Mails on the server is crucial. Expected Results: It just downloads the mails once and that’s it!
I have this problem occasionally too, but in my case it seems not to be related to the error message the reporter mentioned (I got a lot of those too, everytime, but they do not cause the messages to be re-downloaded from the server). What seems to trigger the problem here is a loss of internet connection. If the internet connection fails while kmail is downloading messages, sometimes (not always) it will download again all messages stored in the server, including the ones already downloaded weeks or months ago, when the internet connection is restablished. This happens with my gmail accounts (which are configured in KMail as POP3 accounts, not IMAP accounts). I choose to leave the messages at the server after download for exactly the same reason the original reporter mentioned: I want to be able to download the messages again using other devices (smartphone, tablet and computer). However, sometimes KMail forgets what messages it had already downloaded and downloads the entire server contents again.
This bug has only been reported for versions before 4.14, which have been unsupported for at least two years now. Can anyone tell if this bug still present? If noone confirms this bug for a Framework-based version of kmail2 (version 5.0 or later, as part of KDE Applications 15.12 or later), it gets closed in about three months.
Just as announced in my last comment, I close this bug. If you encounter it again in a recent version (at least 5.0 aka 15.08), please open a new one unless it already exists. Thank you for all your input.
